Yes it's Friday, so that's definitely a good reason to put a smile on your face! However, that's not the only reason to smile everywhere you go - on the school run, on the train on your way into work, in the office (yes even in the office!).
Another reason apart from it being Friday is the fact that smiling is infectious and you can help to make everyone around you happy, resulting in a happier place for us all to be.
I'm generally quite a happy, optimistic person, but even on those days when I'm not feeling so bright and cheerful, I try my best to plaster a smile on my face when I see others. Even if they don't smile back, I hope that as I pass strangers in the street it makes them feel a bit better that people are smiling rather than ignoring one another or just head down trying to get on with their busy stressful lives!
I would hope that those strangers then wish they'd smiled back and next time they see me that they do so, or at least start to smile at other people they pass instead to pass on that happy, friendly feeling that we could all do with a bit more of in our lives.
I think this links in quite well to my previous post about mostly communicating via online messaging systems and forgetting how humans originally evolved to communicate directly with one another by talking and using body language to communicate. When most people spend their day at work or home communicating via their phone, tablet or computer, it's no wonder that some people have forgotten how to communicate positively with one another in real life using something that costs us nothing - a simple smile.
Give it a go this weekend, smile at strangers even when they don't smile back and smile when you're on your own getting those weekend jobs done. If anything, a smile is better than a frown and produces less frown lines on those lovely smiling faces of yours!
